2014 South India - Part 1

Tonsure (head shaving)

Most of south Indian temple's have an in-house barber's to do the tonsure and we did it at Tirumala. there were few hundreds of them to help the devotees to perform the tonsure. Mainly went there for my son, as we did not perform tonsure for him since birth, and there we were when he was 3 years old.

At first, the father fulfills his tonsure, then its the junior's turn. I was more nervous than anyone thinking on how he is going to handle this. he was always afraid of cutting his hair, whenever brought him to the saloon, the moment we reached the front door, he will start to play tantrum in front of everyone. hence, normally I will not bring him to saloon unless the hair is too long and cannot keep any longer.

this round, junior surprised all of us by not a single cry. he acted as if he knew what the barber is going to do and being so relaxed throughout the whole process.

lastly, mummy didn't out as well to do her part. well, for ladies, its just a few inches of hair consider enough for the ceremony.
